On the dotted line: Rikard signs with Samford
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Providence Christian senior Sarah Beth Rikard is headed to the Magic City.
Rikard signed here letter of intent to compete on the track and field team for Samford University. She’ll compete in heptathlon for the Bulldogs.
Rikard has been a member of the PCS track and field team for three years and helped the program capture the indoor and outdoor state championships this season.
Now track and field was never in her life plans, especially with a cheer and gymnastics background, but now she couldn’t see herself doing anything else.
“One of my coaches came to me one day at school in the ninth grade and told me I just need to come try out and see what it looks like,” said Rikard. “So in 10th grade I did try out and I fell in love. I wasn’t the best to begin with, but I loved it.”
